GenQA is a member of the UK National External Quality Assessment Service (UK NEQAS) consortium and is an international organisation facilitating optimal patient care by providing comprehensive assessments for the wide range of activities involved in the delivery of genomic services. This is an excellent opportunity to join GenQA which is a collaboration between the Cytogenomic External Quality Assessment Service (CEQAS), based in Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Oxford and UK NEQAS for Molecular Genetic, based in the Department of Laboratory Medicine at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. GenQA provides genomic External Quality Assessment (EQA) and educational tools to participants globally,
We are seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the expanding team of scientists in this internationally recognised EQA centre. The post advertised is a key position, involving planning of EQA activities and day-to-day management of cytogenomics EQA implementation including molecular testing. The post holder will liaise closely with all GenQA staff and, more widely, with a wide range of colleagues including those in participating laboratories, the diagnostic industry, professional bodies, national regulatory bodies, international societies, other UK NEQAS Centres, accreditation agencies (e.g. UKAS) and key stakeholders.
Applicants should ideally have a background in providing a diagnostic genomic service, coupled with an interest in research, quality implementation and development of new technologies and tools. They should be able to represent the views of the Scheme at an international level. Applicants should be registered with the Health Professions Council as a Clinical Scientist specialising in Genetics or national equivalent.
The post holder will be employed by NHS Lothian and will receive training at both the Edinburgh and Oxford centres.
