Covid-19 All Centre Update for w/c 25th May 2020

To help UK NEQAS participants in the current Covid-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak, we will be providing a weekly all-centre update. We will also provide an email address for each centre should anyone wish to make direct contact with their centre. Here’s the update for week commencing 25th May 2020:

Cellular Pathology TechniqueAt the end of March UK NEQAS CPT took the decision to postpone all Educational Workshops until 1st June 2020, due to the Covid-19 situation in the UK and across the world. Delegates were provided with an alterative date to attend in the latter part of the year.
As our next programme of Educational Workshops is due to begin in the next few weeks, and we are unsure how this will look until we have more information, we feel we have been left with no alternative but to postpone our Educational Workshops through June.
To continue our commitment to education and training, we recently launched "CPTCast" on Twitter and LinkedIn; consisting of daily posts to continually reinforce that even during these extraordinary times; Quality Matters.
In addition to this, we are launching a series of webinars, whilst we amend our programme to ensure continued UK NEQAS CPT educational support and delivery. The UK NEQAS CPT Educational Webinars will be free of charge, and will be available to all participants.

Genomics (GenQA)GenQA are committed to supporting genomics laboratories in meeting their EQA requirements for the 2020-21 season.
We have updated the EQA programmeEQA programme to reduce the genomics laboratory workload, whilst ensuring EQA coverage of the breadth of technologies within laboratories. These changes include:

- Rescheduling EQA distributions to take place later in the year (between July 2020 and January 2021).

- Revising the format of some EQAs to:
o focus on providing EQAs for core tests
o provide fewer samples for laboratory testing
o minimise the testing required (e.g. single variant only)
o change EQAs to interpretation only (e.g. no laboratory testing required)
o change EQAs to genotyping only (where laboratory testing is required)
o merge EQAs where appropriate
o postpone a small number of EQAs to the 2021-22 season

- Reduce EQA fees, for some EQAs, to reflect the changes implemented.

For the revised timetable and fees of all EQAs for 2020-21, please download the: Revised EQA timetable - May 2020
