To help UK NEQAS participants in the current Covid-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak, we have been providing a weekly all-centre update. This will now become a monthly update, with the next update due to be released at the beginning of July. We will also provide an email address for each centre should anyone wish to make direct contact with their centre.

Here’s the update for week commencing 8th June 2020:

Blood CoagulationUK NEQAS BC has delayed distribution of the Thrombophilia Genetics programme, requiring freshly donated whole blood samples. The large majority of programmes have been distributed on schedule, but with extended closing dates, as participants have experienced delays in sample delivery as well as requiring extra time for carrying out tests.
For most of our programmes, well over 90% of centres have been able to return results.
We are still operating a reduced staffing level in the offices to maximise social distancing and help ensure staff safety - staff are working from home approximately 40% of the time at present.
Our annual scientific meeting (Clinical and Laboratory Haemostasis 2020) would have taken place last week, but was cancelled back in March. Plans are underway for the 2021 meeting.
