Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH)

REACH is the EU regulation governing the manufacture and import of chemical substances into the European Union. In the UK, this is covered by the UK REACH regulation that applies to the majority of chemical substances that are manufactured in or imported into Great Britain (GB) (England, Scotland, Wales).

Whilst UK NEQAS manufacture a variety of external quality assessment (EQA) materials, neither the REACH nor UK REACH acts apply as in all cases the quantity of material is significantly less than the one-tonne limit specified in the legislation. As such the EQA materials issued by UK NEQAS are classed as exempt.
