UK NEQAS Cellular Pathology Technique is pleased to announce their focus webinar: Troubleshooting Gram/ZN Staining.

This one-hour focused webinar will include the following subject matter that covers both staining techniques:

• Brief discussion of the types of tissue elements demonstrated and their clinical significance
• An outline of the staining chemistry principles
• An outline of the UK NEQAS CPT expected optimal staining criteria
• Discussion of how failures in the protocol steps affect optimal staining performance
• Presentation of data derived from UK NEQAS CPT assessments
• Discussion of how to avoid or troubleshoot the most common staining problems

After the webinar, for both staining techniques, the attendees should be able to:

• Explain the clinical use of both techniques and the tissue elements they are able to demonstrate
• Explain the staining chemistry principles utilised by both techniques
• Assess and recognise the optimal staining quality for both techniques
• Identify the causes of sub-optimal staining for both techniques and be able to resolve them
• Explain how quality measures can monitor performance
