Blood Parasite Screening and Identification (Haematology)|

Blood films for parasite screening/identification for Haematology laboratories are provided as part of the Blood Films for Morphology, Manual Differential and Parasite Identification programme.
PURPOSE OF PROGRAMME:
This scheme is designed to maintain and improve blood film skills for both screening and identifying blood parasites
|malaria and occasional filaria and trypanosome parasites||A parasitaemia count (%) is requested if Plasmodium falciparum or Plasmodium knowlesi is present|
MATERIAL PROVIDED: Peripheral blood smears (thick and thin) on glass slides, for the detection and species identification of blood parasites (PA slides). Films are pre-stained with Giemsa/MGG, Fields stain or Dellafield
DISTRIBUTIONS PER YEAR: Blood parasite films are distributed four times per year (thick or thin preparations)
SAMPLES PER DISTRIBUTION: Two blood films
FREQUENCY OF DISTRIBUTION: as per Trial schedule

Participants may select the combination that fits their laboratory profile, making the Scheme flexible and adaptable to participants’ needs.
