Assessment of iron stores in bone marrow.
PURPOSE OF PROGRAMME:
This scheme is designed to monitor the performance of iron staining (Perls’ stain) for assessment of iron in bone marrow and urinary haemosiderin.

MATERIAL PROVIDED: Bone marrow or occasional haemosiderin smears on glass slides, pre-fixed in methanol
DISTRIBUTIONS PER YEAR: Two per annum
SAMPLES PER DISTRIBUTION: Two slides
