C-Reactive Protein (CRP)
ACCREDITATION STATUS:
UKAS accredited proficiency testing provider No. 7795
CLINICAL APPLICATION:
Monitoring of the acute phase response
PURPOSE OF PROGRAMME:
Immunochemistry EQA scheme
ANALYTES:
Analyte | Default Unit |
---|---|
C-Reactive Protein | mg/L |
MATERIAL PROVIDED: Liquid format. Normal and pathological human serum Additional materials may be produced for specific recovery experiments by the addition of purified CRP to an analyte-free serum matrix
DISTRIBUTIONS PER YEAR: 12
SAMPLES PER DISTRIBUTION: 2
FREQUENCY OF DISTRIBUTION: Every month as outlined in the Distribution Schedule
PROGRAMME OF ANALYSIS:
Data entry is via the web for the submission of results. Data analysis is commenced 14 days after sample dispatch. Late returns are accepted and will contribute to the laboratory's cumulative performance statistics
DATA ANALYSIS:
All Laboratory Trimmed Mean (ALTM) with truncation at 2SD, SD, and CV%. Reports also show method specific statistics. Individual laboratory performance is expressed in terms of MRBIS, SDBIS, and MRVIS Chosen Coefficient of Variation for C-Reactive protein is 8%
PERFORMANCE SCORING:
MRVIS
PERFORMANCE MONITORING:
Laboratory performance is classified in terms of the MRVIS over a running analytical window of 12 Distributions (12 months)
PERSISTENT POOR PERFORMANCE:
Defined as being in the Poor Performance category for two or more successive Distributions
Immunology, Immunochemistry & Allergy (IIA)
The External Quality Assessment Scheme for Immunology, Immunochemistry & Allergy (IIA) was founded in 1982 by Dr Anthony Milford Ward at Northern General Hospital, Sheffield. In 1982 the Service became known as the UK National External Quality Assessment Service for Immunology, Immunochemistry & Allergy. UK NEQAS IIA is part of the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. For the most up-to-date scheme information (including any pilot schemes) please contact the centre directly.
