Determining immunity to Rubella
PURPOSE OF PROGRAMME:
To provide EQA for laboratories determining immunity to rubella. (Determining immunity to the rubella virus was one of the recommended ante natal screening tests until April 2016. The success of the vaccination programme has resulted in the disease being incredibly rare in the UK and is now classified as eliminated according to World Health Organization criteria. The scheme remains live until routine screening has been phased out. Diagnostic testing will continue to be covered – see Parvovirus and Rubella IgG and IgM.)
