PROFESSIONAL CAREER

  • 10 years experience in a busy regional genetics service culminating in appointment as the lead for the Haemato-oncology genetics service
  • 15 years working for UK NEQAS starting as a clinical scientist advancing to the position of Centre Manager
  • Centre Manager role involves managing the delivery of EQA services to flow cytometric and molecular haemato-oncology laboratories both nationally and internationally. This involves the ongoing delivery of 25 EQA programmes; liaison with participants to resolve incidences of poor performance; the reporting of poor performance to a number of national oversight committees; and the design and development of new EQA programmes. In addition, the Centre Manager role involves taking a lead in the implementation of scientific and technical research, service development within the organisation and managing the administration and scientific departments. In addition, I'm currently several years into a PhD project comparing different methods of measuring MRD in Plasma Cell Myeloma and assessing the impact of any variation on patient management
